WHY “FUJO” CON?

FujoCon was created to fill both the void in BL conventions and BL content at virtual conventions. It’s organized by BL Garden of DFW, a “ship and let ship” group of fujin and we celebrate all fans of BL regardless of their gender identity. The name FujoCon was chosen to best reflect our core audience, our goals as a “ship and let ship” con, and a proud celebration of fujoshi culture.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND?

FujoCon is 100% free and is run by volunteers who donate their time and money to keep FujoCon free. If you’d like to help us offset the costs of the con, please check out our support page for ways to donate.

DO I HAVE TO BE OVER 18 TO ATTEND?

Yes, FujoCon is an 18+ event. You must be over 18 to register.

WILL FUJOCON BE AN ANNUAL EVENT?

Thus far, yes! We’ve been fortunate to have so much support over the years, and you can insure FujoCon continues to be an annual event by supporting us.

how can i support fujocon?

We have a support section of the site, with links to our Patreon and Ko-fi. Any small amount helps us cover the costs for organizing this year and goes towards any future FujoCon events and our day to day operations at BL Garden of DFW. Thank you to everyone who has supported us!

WHAT TIME ZONE IS FUJOCON BASED IN?

FujoCon is based in US Central Time, so all hours posted on the site and schedule will be in Central time.

IS THERE INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMING?

Yes, FujoCon runs programming 24/7 to help our international fans attend. Additionally, most panels are recorded and posted after the con so you can watch anything you missed due to the time difference.

CAN I WIN PRIZES IF I LIVE OUTSIDE THE US?

Yes, all registered attendees are eligible to win prizes. However, prizes of physical goods (such as manga, Blu-rays, etc) cannot be shipped internationally. This is due to the high cost of international shipping as well as the tricky legalities of mailing BL internationally. International attendees can still win digital prizes of equal value to the physical goods prize packs.

HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR FUJOCON?

Registration for 2022 is not open yet and won’t open until spring 2022. Please follow @fujocon and @blgardendfw on Twitter to stay up to date for our 2022 registration announcement.

WHY SHOULD I REGISTER FOR FUJOCON?

You cannot attend FujoCon if you don’t register. Registration allows you entrance to all panels, the chance to win prizes, and a link to our Discord. Registration is free!

CAN I REGISTER DURING THE CON?

No. Registration will be closed and there will be no “day of” registration at the convention. This is for the safety and protection of our attendees. Registration is free and we will have a long registration window, so when you see registration go up on the FujoCon social channels, do NOT wait! Register early to secure your spot.

I MISSED THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE, CAN I STILL REGISTER?

No. Once registration for FujoCon closes, we cannot accept any more attendees and will not reopen registration. We’re very sorry, but registration was open for several months prior to the deadline, with a lot of warnings for when registration would close. Please follow @FujoCon on Twitter to stay up to date about when registration for any future cons might open.

I’M REGISTERED, BUT WHAT IF I WANT TO INVITE A FRIEND?

All attendees must be registered. Inviting friends who are also registered attendees is permissible, but we strongly encourage attendees to virtually attend solo to maintain social distancing and prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, the Centers for Disease Control permits small, private gatherings of less than 10 people for fully vaccinated adults. If you and your friends are fully vaccinated and feel comfortable meeting up privately to watch together, that is your prerogative. Only registered attendees will get join links for meetings.

I’M REGISTERED, BUT CAN I SHARE LINKS?

No. Any registered attendee caught sharing FujoCon event or Discord links will be banned on sight. This includes having watch parties or sharing links with friends who did not register for the con. FujoCon registration was public, but the convention is only open to registered attendees. Please help us protect the safety of your fellow attendees, guests, panelists, and artists by keeping those links private.

how can i watch panels i missed?

Most panels are recorded and posted after the con so you can watch anything you missed due to the time difference. You can watch all our recorded panels on our Youtube.

WHY CAN’T I REWATCH SOME PANELS?

Some panels could not be recorded. Panelists reserve the right to decline our offer to record and put the panels up online, and some panelists may be bound by contractual obligations that prohibit them from distributing their panel in this way. We highly recommend you try to attend academic panels because these most often cannot be recorded because of this issue.

CAN I RUN THE SAME PANEL TWO YEARS IN A ROW?

We will only accept the same panel back to FujoCon if it’s had significant updates. You won’t be able to simply do the exact same panel again, but if you keep it fresh, we’ll definitely consider it! New content is prioritized for attendees to keep FujoCon innovative and exciting.

I WAS A ACCEPTED LAST YEAR, WILL I BE ACCEPTED AGAIN THIS YEAR?

There are no guarantees. We may invited some popular panelists from 2021 to apply again because we feel they best represent the type of programming we are looking for, but no preferential treatment will be given to panelists from 2021 vs. new panelists applying.

I WAS A REJECTED LAST YEAR, CAN I APPLY AGAIN THIS YEAR?

Absolutely! FujoCon welcomes any and applications, and it never hurts to apply, but we caution panelists to read our criteria to insure they meet said criteria and are the best fit for this con.

WILL THERE BE A COSPLAY CONTEST?

No, we have chosen to focus our cosplay efforts on panels and guests and welcome anyone who wishes to submit a cosplay panel. Additionally, there will be cosplay or photo channels on the Discord where you can show off your cosplays for the con, and there may even be a mini contest on Discord.

can i get a link to the resources?

We are working to compile a list of resources from all the various panels BL Garden ran as well as that of our other guests and panelists. For now, you can reference this spreadsheet for all the recommendations and resources.

- - - ✧ GUESTS ✧ - - -

Why can’t i take photos of SOME GUESTS?

Every guest reserves the right to their privacy and to request that no photos or recordings be taken. Please respect their wishes. If a panel says NO PHOTOS, do NOT take photos. This includes screenshots or recordings (on camera or screen) for personal use. If we find you posting photos or recordings of panels that were expressly prohibited, you will be banned from FujoCon. Do not ask us if it’s okay to do so for personal use–it’s not. No photos and recordings means NO photos or recordings.

- - - ✧ ARTIST ALLEY ✧ - - -

WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR 2022?

Applications will open January 30, 2022. Please go ahead and prepare your online shop and art if you plan to apply!

I MISSED APPLYING TO ARTIST ALLEY, IS THERE A WAITLIST?

No, FujoCon AA does not have a waitlist. Please follow our social media to find out when we will have sign ups for any future cons.

WHAT DOES A JURIED AA MEAN?

A juried AA generally means your entry is judged and accepted based on the quality of your work and/or diversity of craft rather than how quickly you apply (first come first serve) or any type of lottery system. For FujoCon, we are judging based on whether you meet the basic criteria (see our checklist here) as well as the quality of the work. Above all, we are looking for creators who best fit our BL+ theme.

WHAT IS FUJOCON DOING TO PROMOTE CREATORS?

FujoCon promotes our Artist Alley on the FujoCon Twitter, Discord, and website. On Twitter, there will be a week of posts highlighting each creator, as well as general posts to showcase the list, when AA opens, etc. On Discord, we have a directory of quick links along with self-promotion and chat channels for our creators. The FujoCon website “hosts” the main Artist Alley with mini galleries so you can quickly preview work and easily shop for goods.

WHEN WILL YOU ANNOUNCE CREATORS? WHEN WILL THE ARTIST ALLEY OPEN?

FujoCon will begin announcing and promoting creators in April and May. However, the Artist Alley itself won’t open until the week FujoCon opens.

HOW CAN I SHOP ARTIST ALLEY?

Artist Alley lives in two places: the website and Discord. We strongly encourage attendees to use our website as it will have previews of what creators are selling and is overall a more optimized experience for AA. However, Discord will have links to all the shops and you can interact with creators, so it’s also a great place to be if you enjoy Artist Alleys.

- - - ✧ GAMING & PRIZES ✧ - - -

CAN WE WIN PRIZES FOR ANY GAMES?

Yes! The exact games and prizes are still being determined, but look forward to many fun games where you can win some amazing BL goodies.

WILL THE PRIZES BE MAILED?

Some prizes will be mailed, yes, and some are virtual prizes in the form of codes for subscriptions or credits from our sponsors. For legal reasons, any prizes that involve physical BL anime or manga can only be mailed within the US. However, we have more than enough prizes and regardless of where you live in the world, you are still eligible to win something amazing!

when will i get my prize?

Not every prize given out at FujoCon is fulfilled by con staff, and your prize may be coming directly from a sponsor. In either case, please be respectful of everyone’s time. We will mail your prize as soon as we’re able, but we cannot control shipping times. FujoCon supports the USPS and there may be delays due to COVID-19 globally.

DO I HAVE TO PAY TO PARTICIPATE OR WIN A PRIZE?

No. FujoCon is 100% free and there is not purchase necessary to play or win a prize. You do, however, have to be registered for FujoCon to collect your prize.

i won a prize, how do i claim it?

Please email fujocon@gmail.com along with your name and the username you used in conjunction with Zoom or Twitch. Also make sure you email from the same email you registered for the con with! Only registered attendees could win prizes.

HOW CAN I PLAY THE GAMES FROM FUJOCON? WILL YOU HOST A GAME NIGHT?

We are currently discussing how to make this happen. Please support FujoCon/BL Garden of DFW on Patreon for the best chance at getting access to our games and potential game nights.
